Transportation Underwriter - Richmond, VA
Essential Functions of the Job:
This position will develop and manage a core group of transportation agencies and deliver a high level of expertise in the underwriting of transportation accounts. This person is responsible for developing and executing a marketing plan to drive new business, including in-person visits and distribution of marketing materials. Fostering positive business relationships with co-workers, agents, brokers, program managers, and reinsurers. May assist with the research, development and presentation of new programs, forms, and manuals.
Mandatory skills/experience required:
Expert knowledge of transportation business. Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, or ASLI preferred. Individual should possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work efficiently as a member of a team and independently. Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc…). Well-organized and efficient work habits.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience. 8-10 years of insurance industry experience required.
